#auspol Anything's possible

I've never been one who listens to the experts. Yesterdays Queensland election result was predictable to those of us that really listen. The LNP were given a whack. The reasons are many. The result is what matters. The biggest swing against a one term Government in #auspol history. Kudos to Queenslanders this morning for delivering this message with clarity.
A return of the Government would have ensured the fire sales of our assets continued. That the policies targeting the many to the benefit of the few continued. That environmental concerns regarding mining, the great barrier reef would have been realised. It would have endorsed bad behavior from politicians nationally.
Instead Queensland has a fresh start. They can tackle corruption via ICAC. They can protect and grow the States assets. They can reduce the waste of Government. They must ensure that the policies they drive are formulated with the interests of those they serve always at the forefront.

Finally an MP has asked our PM about his renouncement

It's been over a year trying to find an honest politician to ask our PM if he has renouncement papers. Finally, Terri Butler has gone where Brandis, Thomson, Dreyfus, Keenan, Cosgrove the AFP the Ombudsman and others have failed to go. Whilst her letter is carefully worded and she doesn't believe Abbott has a case to answer. She has asked him for the key document, that could have ended this issue long ago. The renouncement papers that Mr Abbott must have to be eligible to be in parliament since 1994. Terri is right, Abbott has been asked about this and she believes he can be taken at his word. Abbott has demonstrated he is prepared to lie to escape scrutiny over the issue after issue. We must sight the document and it must be authenticated
I hope that if Abbott fails to respond to this request that all of our letters and Tony Magrathea research can be tabled in both houses and we can have an inquiry into the entire matter.Including the long line of people that have slept through it.

"#auspol the revolving door"

Australian politics is not as it should be. The observation is apolitical. It is meant to be the tail that wags the dog. Yet it seems whoever's in place there are always  external agendas driving decisions. The interests of the communities they serve are only relevant for the small window leading into elections.
Apart from the failure to represent interests of the electorate, the greatest damage #auspol does to the community is the appointments they make while in power. These appointments are designed to enable, control and further influence decisions and policies. It's organised corruption. It's been evolving in #auspol for generations unchecked. It's all about maintaining the status quo. Keeping the wolves from the door.
The resistance of mainstream parties in #auspol to a federal ICAC is fundamentally due to the skeletons they both have hidden from the public. How else could you explain the failure to act?The events in NSW State politics show that investigation is the only way to unravel what's happening. The only way we will get this is to break the #auspol cycle.
Voters must not just bounce between major parties. They need to get people that will represent their interests in parliament. The cyclical replacement of Labor for LNP and vice versa just doesn't do it anymore. We don't need to reward mediocrity. Don't think this is an endorsement of the Greens or Palmer United it is anything but. It's an indictment on the talent on offer in #auspol. It's a reflection on the lack of care all of these parties show in preselection and the lacklustre people on offer.
I really hope people are learning from the experiences over the past 5 years in particular. We really need to stop drinking from a well that's clearly tainted. The people of Australia should be the focus of #auspol year round not just during the blusterous lead up to elections.

"Oh what a tangled web Abbott has weaved."

As the days turn into weeks, the weeks to months it becomes blatantly clear that a document that's meant to be revered by our politicians means little or nothing. I'm referring to the Australian Constitution. Politicians including George Brandis, Kelvin Thomson, Mark Dreyfus, Michael Keenan, Bill Shorten and, of course, Tony Abbott have all failed in their duty. To report a breach of the law that they were all notified of over the course of the past year.
Also failing to act in relation to this broken law the Governor General Peter Cosgrove, The Commonwealth Ombudsman and the AFP. From all of these politicians and authorities, I have got 1 response in 12 months. The Commonwealth Ombudsman who claims this matter is not his jurisdiction. I phoned to dispute this and was promised a phone call which never came. I hope these people don't think that by burying their heads in the sand it gives them deniability. All of them have obligations to notify when informed of a crime, none has done so.
An FOI request some months ago confirmed that the PM's office has no documents showing Tony Abbott renounced his dual Citizenship prior to running for parliament. There is also clear evidence that Mr. Abbott travelled on a UK passport and had a UK citizenship when attending Oxford on a scholarship. This alone suggests that he may not have complied with law s44.1 Australian Constitution. On top of this, there is the conduct of his P.A Peta Credlin who stuck her nose in a couple of FOI requests made during the past 12 months. Not part of her job description. Most damning is the failure of the Federal Attorney General to enforce the Constitution. Brandis and Abbott are lifelong mates but the law and its enforcement without prejudice are his jobs irrespective of friendship.
All formerly mentioned are complicit via apathy, not knowing their responsibilities is not an excuse.I hope when this matter is forced via a High Court application that they face consequences.
Why is s44.1 important? It's important because it's a prerequisite of all politicians to be solely Australian Citizens with the nation's interests at heart. Compliance doesn't guarantee we get what we want from the politician to act in our interests. If we waive the law we lower the bar. We allow people to run for parliament on the premise of a lie. If they lie about their citizenship what else are they capable of? 23,000.000 Australians surely we can find 200+ honest ones that don't need to lie to get a job.
I'm not satisfied with Abbott he's proven to consistently lie at the voters expense.I intend to pursue this issue to its conclusion as I think we deserve probity from our politicians particularly from the highest office in the land, not what Tony Abbott is serving.
